Wait. I don’t see any strawberries…
Yep, I was wondering about that too. I think there must be some very greedy people who came in the day before. Or there was probably a tycoon in the area that swooshh the strawberries for good. (But left the roofs intact?)
Hmm. Reminds me of that storm/fish story… I need to check the news if it was raining strawberries in the nearby town. Lucky town people…

A strawberry patch in Lembang, Bandung.
Didn’t get to taste the strawberries though… Bought a pack, kinda forgot it (again), next thing I know it has become a mildew patch instead. A pack of fungi goodness. Goodbye Vitamin C!

Gedung Merdeka against the morning sun. Also called Gedung Asia Afrika.
Yeah, it’s called Gedung Merdeka (Freedom) and I named this photo ‘Barrier’. Oh the irony.

The First (Kinda Accidental) Adventure

If that was an Intro… then this is the Foreword.

At first, I made this tumblr to post photographs I take for my Tugas Akhir (TA) or Final Project (last project I have to tackle before I graduate), which is to design a book about colonial architectures in Bandung, Indonesia. Since I’ll take a lot of photographs I thought to myself, why not make a photoblog as well? You know, sort of a ‘companion’ to my TA ‘adventures’.

Why accidental? Well, because I just sort of ‘fell into’ this subject. I have no basic knowledge about architecture whatsoever, let alone architectural photography. This is something completely new to me. I might as well call it an ‘adventure’, because I’ll be digging into the realm of the unknown…

Okay, save the flowery speeches. Let’s begin our journey… in chasing historical buildings and the stories they behold… oh wait, I’m doing it again.

Shut up now.

All my life I’ve been feeling like I chase shadows. Like there’s something I’ve lost, a nagging feeling of an empty spot inside of me, where a lost (and last) piece of the puzzle would fit… Maybe that what drives me to be a self-acclaimed poet, to have an excuse to scrape the world around me in slow motion. With hope that someday my eyes would catch a glimpse of it, the lost piece…

I haven’t found it yet. Still life goes on and we can’t rewind and pause.

On the other hand, I also always feel like there’s an adventure I need to go to. The world out there is huge beyond measure, and I’ve been sitting here in my tiny little comfortable corner, afraid to go out. To leave that comfort and safety.

But maybe adventure doesn’t have to be big and showy. It could begin with small steps. And tools as simple as a camera and my own two feet.
